Applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy is a journey of growth, connection, and countless small victories that lead to significant change. For the children and families we serve, it’s a path toward greater independence and confidence. For our team members, it’s an opportunity to make a real, lasting impact.

ABA therapy isn’t just about the clinical techniques; it’s in the human moments, the breakthroughs, the shared smiles, and the powerful connections that form between our team and the families we support. We asked our providers to share what they love most about their work, and their responses paint a beautiful picture of dedication, compassion, and shared success.

Making a Difference, One Moment at a Time

At the heart of ABA therapy is the chance to witness progress firsthand. These are what we call “WOW moments,” that sparks the fuel for our team’s passion. They remind us why we do what we do.

For Behavior Technician Jackie W, a WOW moment came surprisingly fast. “I literally just started last week with my first client, but I can say he got comfortable with me quicker than we all expected,” she shares. “He even grabbed my arm and smiled when I ran our trial. I love being in ABA because I get to make a real difference in kids’ lives every single day, helping them gain skills, independence, and confidence.”

These connections are the foundation of effective therapy. When a child feels safe, understood, and supported, they are more open to learning and growing.

This feeling is echoed in the feedback we receive from families.

“I am extremely grateful to ABS Kids for the incredible work they have done with my daughter. Since she started attending, she has improved so much in every aspect — emotionally, socially, and developmentally. I truly don’t have enough words to express my appreciation. The dedication, patience, and care shown by the entire team have been extraordinary. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making such a positive difference in my daughter’s life.”

The Power of Compassion and Empathy

ABA therapy isn’t just about teaching new skills; it’s also about fostering social and emotional understanding. Our team members often witness incredible moments of empathy among the children they work with.

David V, a Behavior Technician, shared one such powerful experience. “There was a moment I saw a kiddo who was observing another kiddo who was crying after being startled, and you could see the compassion in his eyes as he stared helpless, not knowing what to do,” David recalls. “All I could do is comfort and praise him for caring and ensuring him the BT will be there for them.”

These are the moments that go beyond data points and skill acquisition. They represent the development of empathy, kindness, and a deeper connection to the world around them. It’s a testament to the holistic approach of ABA therapy, which supports the whole child.

A Supportive Team Creates a Supportive Environment

A positive and effective therapy experience is built on a foundation of strong teamwork. Behind every successful session and every family’s progress is a network of dedicated individuals working together.

One of our administrative team members described this supportive culture perfectly. “I love working for a place that makes a difference. I can see by the caregiver reviews the impact the care has on these kiddos and their families,” she says. “I can see team members rooting for each other. Being in an admin position, I can also see how dedicated everyone is behind the scenes to ensure our team feels supported. There is care and consideration taken at every step, by every department. That’s what I love about ABS Kids.”

This collaborative spirit is essential. When our team members feel valued and supported, they are empowered to provide the best possible care. This sense of community is something Jackie also highlighted: “Working for ABS Kids allows me to be part of a supportive team that truly cares about growth, progress, and celebrating every little win. I love seeing you guys give shout-outs to each other.”

Families feel the positive effects of this supportive environment. As one parent noted:

“I can’t begin to explain what the staff at ABS Kids has done for my son. This has truly been a life-changing experience for our family. From the front desk to the therapists who work hands-on with my child, every single person deserves recognition beyond words. I am so grateful to call ABS Kids our family. They have provided a friendly, supportive environment where both my son and I feel valued and heard. My son has benefited tremendously, from improved communication to increased independence. Every goal I’ve had for him, they have worked toward and helped him achieve.”

Celebrating Every Victory

In ABA therapy, every step forward is a cause for celebration. Whether it’s a child mastering a new skill, showing empathy for a peer, or a family feeling more confident in their daily routines, these victories are what matter most.

The love for ABA therapy comes from seeing its profound impact. It’s in the quiet moments of connection, the bursts of newfound confidence, and the supportive network that makes it all possible. It’s a journey we are honored to be a part of, celebrating every achievement alongside the incredible children and families we serve.

We are consistently inspired by the progress we see, and it’s a privilege to hear from families who feel the same way.

“My son was diagnosed with level 3 autism when he was 2 years old. He is nonverbal and barely responded to his name whenever I would call him and he wouldn’t sleep at night. Since he began going to ABS Kids…my son is thriving, he now answers to his name when I call him, he sleeps through out the night, he can now walk down 3 flights of stairs without being scared. He can actually say his ABC and 123. He can navigate through his iPad and find whatever it is that he likes. He can sing his ABC and 123, I’ve heard him count by 3s and 10s. He even sang the Jefferson theme song lol All I know is he goes to ABS Kids Mon-Friday from 9am-5pm and it is the best decision that I could have ever made. Whatever they are doing I pray that they keep up the good job. They are doing excellent work at ABS kids on Dolley Madison. My son loves it and so do I. Also I love that ABS Kids allow Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy to come and work with my son as well. I believe my son will grow up to be a productive member of society as long as he keeps getting the wonderful he has been receiving so far at ABS kids.”
