Every child is unique — their ABA therapy plan should be, too.

As a parent, you look forward to the day your child will say “I love you” for the first time, play with a group of new friends or simply reach for your hand. These little moments have big impacts, yet they may not happen naturally for children on the autism spectrum.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is more common than people realize. Per the CDC, about 1 in 31 children in the U.S. is identified with ASD by age 8, and experts believe that many more young children with ASD may not get a formal diagnosis even if they show early signs.

If you’re worried about your child and ASD, you’re not alone. ABS Kids will utilize effective autism diagnosis services and applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to achieve the goals important to you and your family.

About ABA Therapy

ABA therapy is the gold standard, evidence-based approach backed by decades of research that helps children with autism build meaningful skills, reduce challenging behaviors and grow more independent. The effectiveness of ABA therapy for autism is research-based and has been acknowledged by the U.S. Surgeon General and the American Psychological Association.

With early intervention, ABA therapy has been proven to enhance communication, enable independent living and develop age-appropriate social and school-readiness skills while reducing unwanted behaviors.

ABS Kids focuses on two types of ABA therapy:

Comprehensive ABA

  • Offers a wide range of skill-building activities across several areas of development
  • Gently supports growth in places where your child may need extra help and reinforces positive behaviors along the way

Focused ABA

  • Provides a smaller set of individualized goals
  • Concentrates on specific skills or behavior that can make a meaningful difference in your child’s daily life

Personalized Therapy for Children, Provided by Experts

When it comes to ABA therapy for autism, the ABS Kids team will create research-based strategies for your child. These strategies focus on increasing your child’s motivation and improving skills like school-readiness, language, cooperation, making friends, motor skills, hygiene, personal safety and more.

Your child will receive a supportive treatment plan, designed just for them, that can include:

  • Center-based therapy
Your child can build school-readiness, social and communication skills through 1:1 therapy with our compassionate behavior team at our ABA therapy centers. Learning activities and social skills are practiced in simulated environments, such as classrooms and playgrounds. Find one of our accredited centers near you
  • At-home therapy
Let therapy come to you! ABA therapy at home is perfect for learning real-world applications of the skills your child is learning & building. As a parent or caregiver, you’ll also receive education to help your child develop skills and manage behavior. See if this option is available near you.
  • Community integrations
ABS Kids can work with you to provide ABA therapy in your child’s school, daycare, early care settings and more. Depending on your child’s needs and our local capabilities, ABS Kids will build a plan with you to provide ABA therapy in the most effective and practical care settings.

ABA Therapy for Autism FAQs

ABA breaks down big goals into smaller, manageable steps. Our teams, consisting of Master’s-level clinicians that specialize in ABA therapy, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), work with your child to develop skills such as school-readiness, communication, self-care, social interaction, emotional regulation, daily living and more. All ABA therapy is one-on-one between learner and therapist, with a focus on each child’s individual strengths and needs. Each ABA therapy plan is tailored exactly for your child to help them make steady progress.

In our purpose-built ABA centers, children benefit from well-designed, safe and fun environments overseen by quality professionals. ABA centers include specialty rooms such as mock classrooms, motor gyms, art/music areas and reading areas to help your child become more comfortable and confident in environments they are likely to encounter in life, while building essential skills.

Each child is unique and has different needs. A BCBA will meet with you and your child to create an individualized therapy plan that is specific to your child’s strengths and needs. The therapy plan will include defined goals, progress methods and an agreed-upon schedule to carry out the therapy.

Absolutely! Caregiver involvement is essential to enhancing your child’s progress. ABS Kids provides caregiver education alongside ABA therapy to help you understand your child’s program and how to continue progressing at home.

ABS Kids accepts most major insurance, Medicaid and Medi-Cal plans. ABA therapy is typically covered by insurance, and our experienced autism insurance specialists are available to help you review coverage options and provide a detailed cost analysis for your child’s individualized ABA therapy.
