For 15 years, ABS Kids has been dedicated to supporting children with autism spectrum disorder and their families. As we mark this anniversary, we are taking time to reflect on a core principle that has guided us from the very beginning: quality. Quality is more than just a word to us; it’s the foundation of every department, every team member, and everything we do.
To get a better understanding of what quality truly means at ABS Kids, we sat down with Chanti Fritzsching Waters, EdD, BCBA-D, our Vice President of Clinical & Regulatory Affairs. With her extensive expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy and commitment to the families we serve, Chanti offers a unique perspective on our journey and our vision for the future.
Defining Quality at Every Step
What does quality mean in the context of our services? According to Chanti, it’s about delivering excellence at every stage of a family’s journey. This isn’t limited to the therapy itself but extends to every interaction, system, and support we provide.
“From the moment a parent reaches out for help, through diagnosis and individualized ABA therapy, and ultimately through a child’s successful transition back into their community, quality is the standard that guides each step,” Chanti Fritzsching Waters explains.
This means every team member, regardless of their role, plays a part in creating the best possible experience. We strive to deliver services with care, clarity, consistency, and compassion, ensuring families feel supported and respected.
The Evolution of High-Quality Care
The field of ABA has changed significantly since we saw our first client in 2011. Quality was often measured by a narrow set of standardized metrics. While these outcomes are still important, our understanding of true quality has become much broader and more personalized.
Today, we focus on socially meaningful outcomes; those that genuinely matter to a child’s daily life and a family’s well-being. “Instead of measuring success solely by predetermined categories of client progress,” Chanti Fritzsching Waters notes, “we now look at how interventions enhance quality of life, promote independence, strengthen family routines, and support long-term satisfaction.”
One of the most important lessons the ABA field has accepted is that quality isn’t a one-size-fits-all concept. High-quality care looks different for every family. To be truly successful, it must be tailored to each child’s unique needs, goals, and priorities. Our commitment is to listen closely, adapt continually, and anchor our work in personalization to deliver truly meaningful results.
Ensuring Consistent Quality
Maintaining consistent quality across all our centers and teams is a top priority. How do we achieve this? It starts with clear expectations and robust training for all team members. These standards are supported by multi-layered data systems that allow us to monitor performance and provide continuous feedback.
“These tools allow us to monitor quality in real time and quickly pinpoint areas that may need additional support or intervention,” says Chanti Fritzsching Waters. While it can be challenging to maintain consistency across diverse departments and locations, these structures help us identify issues early and ensure our care company-wide remains aligned with our high standards.
Looking Ahead: The Future of Quality
As we look to the next 15 years, our goal is to continue advancing how we define and measure quality in ways that are deeply meaningful to each child and family. The ABA field is moving toward greater individualization and whole-person support, and we are excited to be part of that evolution.
We plan to expand our range of services to better meet the diverse needs of individuals with ASD. This includes developing innovative programs, such as group-based interventions, that help children generalize skills and build a bridge from one-on-one therapy to community settings like school and social activities.
Technology and innovation will also play a crucial role. Advanced data systems help us track progress, identify trends, and make timely adjustments to each child’s care plan. By staying at the forefront of new research and best practices, we ensure our services remain effective, person-centered, and of the highest quality.
A WOW Moment: Our Commitment in Action
Reflecting on our journey, Chanti highlighted a “WOW moment” that celebratesour dedication to quality care. “A truly standout moment came in 2025, when ABS Kids proudly achieved accreditation from the Autism Commission on Quality– a significant milestone in our commitment to quality care,” she shared.
Accreditation isn’t just an award—it’s a testament to our commitment and the daily dedication of our team to delivering the highest-quality care.. It underscores the strength of the systems and measures we have built into the fabric of our organization. This achievement reflects not just our adherence to rigorous standards, but our ongoing dedication to delivering individualized, high-quality care that meets the unique needs of each child and family.
As we celebrate 15 years, we are more committed than ever to our mission. We are grateful to every family who has trusted us, and we look forward to continuing to provide compassionate, effective, and personalized care for many years to come.
